How the math works
What counts as a text — and what doesn’t.
Your plan includes a set number of outbound SMS messages per month (150 to 3,000 depending on tier). One “text” equals one 160-character segment delivered to one phone number.
Sending one broadcast to 500 Members = 500 texts. A longer message that splits into two segments doubles that. Add an emoji and it drops the segment limit to 70 characters — keep messages tight to stretch your allowance.
Replies are free. Inbound messages from your Members — YES confirmations, NOT FOR ME opt-outs, questions, free-form replies — never count against your allowance. Engage all you want without watching the clock.
If you send more than your monthly allowance, overage is $0.02 per SMS— no multipliers, no surprises. You can also toggle a hard cap in settings if you’d rather stop sending than incur overage.

Honest answers to the practical questions.
What is the Founding 250?
A one-time $1,500 payment that gives you lifetime Originator access — never another bill from us. Limited to the first 250 buyers, numbered 0001–0250, in honor of America's 250th anniversary on July 4, 2026. Each Founding Originator gets a numbered badge on their public page forever.
Do my Members pay anything?
No. Standard U.S. phone plans include unlimited SMS, so receiving and replying to your messages costs your Members nothing. We never bill Members, ever — only Originators pay.
What happens to unused texts?
They roll over into the next month, capped at 1× your monthly allotment. So a Standard tier (700/mo) can bank up to 700 unused, giving you 1,400 available the following month. Rollovers expire after 90 days of inactivity.
What happens after the 30-day trial?
On day 31, your card is charged for the first month. We email you a few days before. Cancel any time during the trial and you'll never be charged. (The Founding 250 has no trial — it's a one-time lifetime payment.)
What if I exceed my allowance?
Each additional message is $0.02 — billed at the end of the month. We email you at 80%, 100%, and 110% so there are no surprises. Toggle a hard cap in settings to stop sending instead.
Can I change plans?
Anytime. Upgrade and you'll be prorated for the rest of your period. Downgrade and it takes effect at your next billing cycle. Rollover bank carries with you.
Is the Founding 250 refundable?
No. The lifetime tier is non-refundable by design — it's a commitment in both directions. We're committing to lifetime service; you're committing to lifetime partnership. If 250 fills before we ship a feature you wanted, you're still on the team for everything that comes next.
Will pricing ever change?
Monthly tier pricing may evolve as we add features. Founding 250 pricing is locked for life — never another bill, never a price increase. That's the deal.
Do you offer non-profit or community discounts?
The $9.99 Small Group tier was built for exactly that — small civic groups, neighborhood associations, book clubs, school PTOs. If you're still squeezed at that price, email hello@textiton.com.
Can I run multiple Originator accounts?
Yes. Each Originator is its own subscription — for example, the city's official account and the mayor's campaign account would be separate. Both can be Founding 250 spots if you grab them.
